Come and discover the perfect harmony between hospitality and tradition during a stay at Josefa d’Óbidos Hotel, where time slows down and salt preserves stories that span generations!

A few kilometres from the medieval village of Óbidos, you can enjoy a unique experience at the Rio Maior Salt Pans – the last inland salt pans in Portugal, whose records date back to the 12th century.

Visit the Lopes family’s Loja do Sal, a project born out of love and respect for nature, which has kept the art of salt extraction alive for four generations. Fernando, Emília, João or Luís welcome us, sharing their knowledge, secrets and smiles.

Take part in an exclusive visit to the Salt Shop and its heritage, with one of the Lopes family members, and feel like salt workers for a few moments: touch the earth, feel and taste the tradition and authenticity of salt.

And to complete the journey, enjoy a regional meal at Taberna 1865, where the family legacy continues at the table, in every dish that celebrates the territory and the salt soul.

* Available upon reservation and 24 hours’ prior payment for a minimum of 2 people.
